A message to our patient family as we prepare our doors for reopening on June 1st.

It is with enthusiasm and confidence that we would like to prepare you for your next appointment at West Edge Dental.  We have missed you!  Our commitment to delivering the best possible care continues to be paramount.  To provide the highest level of protection for everyone, we have implemented all guidelines and recommendations set forth by the Center for Disease Control and the American Dental Association.  We have also opted to invest in new state of the art dental technology proven to reduce airborne particle transmission to a nearly non-existent level.

Here is a summary of important upgrades and updated precautionary measures:

  • We now have HEPA medical grade air filtration units with UVC lights that exchange the air within the practice 1-3 times per hour. These units have a 99.99% kill efficiency rate for particulates including viruses and bacteria.
  • Each dental operatory is now equipped with vacuum filtration units designed to safely capture and sterilize airborne contaminants, even as small as 1 micron (the size of coronavirus) with 97% effectiveness.
  • The clinical team is now wearing N95 face masks, face shields, hair bonnets, and shoe covers.
  • The front desk is now protected with plexiglass sneeze guards.
  • The office has been modified to be as touch-free as possible. We regret the necessity to remove all hospitality items in an effort to reduce contact.  The hydration station, magazines, and decorative items have been removed in the interest of fast and frequent disinfection and sterilization.  We will clean and disinfect public areas throughout the day as well as continue our complete room sterilization between patients and nightly deep-clean of the entire office.
  • Because research has shown that hydrogen peroxide deactivates coronavirus particles, we are asking our patients to rinse with a hydrogen peroxide solution (supplied in-office) prior to the start of each appointment.
  • Our appointment reminder system will now include a COVID-19 risk-assessment questionnaire. We appreciate you giving us up to date information on any risk factors and symptoms that you may have. In the case of even the slightest risk possibility, we will gladly reschedule your appointment at least two weeks later.
  • We have always prided ourselves in keeping on-time as evident by our nearly empty ‘waiting room.’ In an extra effort to assure social distancing, we have modified our schedule so that patients may be immediately brought into the clinical area.  We ask that you arrive no more than 5 minutes early and do not bring companions unless absolutely necessary.

It is an unfortunate reality that due to the changes described above and the inflated cost of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) the cost of doing business has significantly increased.  In order to slightly offset this cost to a more sustainable level, we will be indefinitely adding a $15 PPE Fee to each visit.  Combining cleaning appointments with any other pending treatment and making an effort to complete as much dentistry as possible per visit can be effective strategies at minimizing this cost over time.

We plan to reopen our doors on June 1st and will start calling patients next week to begin rescheduling appointments in the order that they were cancelled.  As we do our best to do so as efficiently as possible, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, comments or concerns.  We very much look forward to welcoming you back into our office and sincerely thank you for your trust in our care.
